Puget Sound Center recognized as a Microsoft Model Professional Development
Site for Innovative Use of Technology in Teaching
BOTHELL, WA
Today Puget Sound Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology (PSCTLT) was
recognized as a Microsoft Model Professional Development Site and an innovator
in its use of technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.
The award was given to PSCTLT because the organization is a tremendous example to the education community with its ongoing investment in the professional development of teachers. This commitment is demonstrated through the creation of exemplary, innovative programs and resources that effect real change in the way teachers teach using technology. This year, Microsoft will recognize about a dozen organizations with the Model Professional Development award. Microsoft provides the opportunity for these organizations to share lessons learned; best practices, and program solutions with other schools throughout the United States.
"It would be hard to overstate how excited we are about receiving
this recognition," said Bill McMeekin, PSCTLT's Executive Director. "We
look forward to working together with Microsoft to continue to inspire
and support teachers and students in our community with programs that instill
a passion for life-long learning in technology."
Educational organizations and schools that have been recognized as Model
Professional Development Sites have demonstrated that technology can empower
students and teachers and help them reach the highest level of achievement.
As a Model Professional Development Site, Puget Sound Center will be highlighted
on the Microsoft.com education Web site and will receive a Model Professional
Development Recognition Kit that includes hardware and software.
“Microsoft is pleased to support the ongoing efforts of Puget Sound
Center and their work in enabling students, teachers and lifelong learners
to realize their potential,” said Greg Butler, Manager – Educator & Student
Development at Microsoft. “Investing in developing technology skills
and the way those skills can be applied to learning, sets this organization
apart as an educational leader in their community.”
Microsoft has a unique opportunity to showcase and promote some of the
best practices in the education community that have a real impact on the
way teachers instruct using technology. To achieve this, Microsoft has
established Model Professional Development Sites. More information can
